Obituary for Allen E. Long

Danielson - Allen E. Long 72, of Danielson passed away on December 30, 2018 surrounded by his family at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester. Allen was born in Putnam on April 17, 1946, the son of the late Richard J. and Dorothy (Lane) Long. He was the husband of Jennifer (Ainsworth) Long who survives him. Besides his wife he is survived by his daughters, Lori Ruehle (Michael) of Danielson, Michele (Rick) Sabourin of Moosup and Holly (Jeffrey) Daigneault of Webster, MA. Step-Sons John Barr of Wauregan and Dennis Barr of Brooklyn. Sisters Charlene (Thomas) LaPreay and Eileen Kania both of Dayville and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Richard Long. Allen was a 1966 graduate of Ellis Tech and served in the Army during the Vietnam War and received three Purple Hearts. He was the Permittee at the Danielson Elks Lodge for many years. He worked on the KB Ambulance. He was a life member of the Danielson VFW and the AMVETS in Wauregan. Calling hours will be held on Friday January 4, 2019 from 6-9pm at Tillinghast Funeral Home, 433 Main Street, Danielson, CT. Burial with full military honors will be held at a later date.
